UW-Oshkosh Faculty Senate Resolution on Removing from Consideration the Separation of UW-Madison from the UW System in the 2011 – 2013 Budget Bill
Whereas the UW System has been a successful university system model that has provided a quality education for over 40 years;
Whereas the UW System has developed an international reputation for teaching, research, and service;
Whereas the creation of the UW System has increased efficiency among the 26 campuses;
Whereas the UW System has been able to lower the cost of education for taxpayers, students, and families by reducing administrative costs and minimizing duplicative administrative and academic structures;
Whereas the UW System has contributed a positive economic impact to the State of Wisconsin;
Whereas the potential breakup of the UW System is a complex issue with profound long- term effects;
Therefore, be it firmly resolved that the UW Oshkosh Faculty Senate strongly encourages that the separation of UW Madison from the UW System be taken out of the State 2011 – 2013 biennial budget so it can be given the careful consideration it deserves.
