Cody Koenig, Junior (Underwood, Iowa),
174 pounds of UW-Stevens Point
Koenig avenged one of his two losses this year when he pinned Joe Moon of Augsburg
(Minn.) in 1:34 in a dual meet on February 13. Moon entered the match ranked
second in the country. Koenig, who is ranked third nationally, also earned three
other victories in a series of dual matches in Eau Claire on February 14. He
pinned Alex Balcha of St. John's (Minn.) in 20 seconds, scored a 24-9 technical
fall over Mitch Gabrielson of Concordia-Moorhead (Minn.) and was awarded a forfeit
against UW-Eau Claire.

Fabry earned the George Olson Outstanding Wrestler Award at the Pete Willson
Wheaton (Ill.) Invitational. He went 4-0 at the tournament in the 149 pound
bracket to improve to 29-2 on the season. Fabry defeated top-seeded Tyler Moran
of Embry Riddle (Fla.), 5-3, in the championship match. Moran was ranked eighth
in the NAIA rankings.

Jeff Zastrow, Senior (Watertown), 174
pounds of UW-Whitewater
Zastrow defeated Cody Koenig, the defending national champion at 174 pounds
in UW-Whitewater's dual meet against UW-Stevens Point on January 31. Koenig
was ranked third nationally entering the match. Zastrow won the match by a score
of 8-5 and also defeated Lawrence's Joe Austin by technical fall, 22-4, in UW-Whitewater's
23-18 win over the Vikings on January 30. The victory over Lawrence also gave
UW-Whitewater head coach Willie Myers his 300th victory.

Nick Morphew, Senior (Prophetstown,
Ill.), 133 pounds of Lawrence University
Morphew went 5-0 on the week and won the title at 133 pounds at the Private
College Championships. He started the week by pinning Paul Lundgren of UW-Eau
Claire in 2:39 on Friday as part of Lawrence's 26-15 win over the Blugolds.
Morphew then went 4-0 at the Private College meet to win his third tournament
title in as many attempts this season. Morphew is now 23-1 on the season and
has won 20 consecutive matches.

Zastrow was named the Outstanding Wrestler at the North Central (Ill.) Invitational
in Naperville, Ill. on January 16-17 to help the Warhawks to a second-place
team finish. He pinned Marcus Schneider of Coe (Iowa) in the first round and
also pinned Joe Fields of Milwaukee School of Engineering in the quarterfinals.
Zastrow defeated Adam Reid of Coe (Iowa), 6-2, in the championship match to
improve his overall record on the season to 22-2.

Muckerheide pinned all three of his opponents to capture the 285-pound title
at the Simpson (Iowa) Invitational held January 10. He was on the mat for just
87 seconds as he pinned Ryan Weinandt of St. John's (Minn.) in 25 seconds and
Brian Borchers of Wartburg (Iowa) and Brett Christensen of Simpson (Iowa) in
31 seconds each. Muckerheide defeated Christensen, ranked seventh in the NCAA
Division III, in the title match.

Chambers remained undefeated on the year with a pair of victories during the
week, including one over the fourth-ranked wrestler in NCAA Division III. Chambers,
ranked sixth nationally, beat UW-Stevens Point's Brady Holtz, who entered the
match fourth in the national rankings, 8-6. He then knocked off Lawrence's Nick
Morphew, 15-5, in a 27-9 dual meet victory over the Vikings on December 13.
Chambers is now 10-0 on the season.

White was named the Outstanding Wrestler of the Meet at the Wisconsin Open in
Kenosha. He won the 197-pound weight class championship and had the most falls
in the tournament. White was returning to action after suffering an injury in
the Pointers' season opener on November 8.

Fabry recorded two wins over NCAA Division I opponents this week. He defeated
Daniel Elliott of Gardner-Webb, 8-4, and Josh Ballard of Northwestern, 4-1,
in overtime.

Silva recorded an 8-6 victory over Ed Gutnik of the University of Wisconsin
in the Eagles' 24-12 loss on Sunday, November 16. Gutnik qualified for the NCAA
Division I championship last season as a wildcard qualifier and advanced through
to the wrestleback quarterfinals of the national meet.

Cody Koenig, Junior (Underwood, Iowa),
174 pounds of UW-Stevens Point
Koenig began the 2003-04 season the same way he ended the 2002-03 campaign,
with a tournament championship. The defending NCAA Division III champion at
174 pounds won the Pointer Open with four win on Saturday. After breezing through
the preliminary matches, Koenig pinned Ben Thiem of UW-Parkside in 3:34 in the
championship match of the Gold Division.
