Nine Claim Academic All-District Women’s Track & Field/Cross Country Accolades
Madison, Wis.--Nine Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference individuals have been named to the 2008 CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Five College Division Women’s Track & Field/Cross Country Team.
UW-Eau Claire’s Liz Faller and Beth Lutz, UW-La Crosse’s Caitlin Schetter, UW-Platteville’s Marcia Taddy and UW-River Falls’ Krista Hasselquist were first team choices, while UW-Eau Claire’s Amber Hertz and Hannah Humbach, UW-Platteville’s Jessica Scott and UW-River Falls’ Becca Jordahl were second team honorees.
The team is comprised of all NCAA Division II, Division III and NAIA student-athletes from Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana and Minnesota and is voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Faller, a senior from Marinette, Wis., secured first team recognition for the second consecutive year after earning second team laurels in 2005 and 2006. She boats a 3.98 grade point average and is majoring in kinesiology.
A junior from Eau Claire, Wis. (Memorial H.S.), Lutz is majoring in physics education and maintains a 3.98 grade point average.
Schetter, a junior from Kiel, Wis., sustains a 3.68 grade point average and is majoring in communication studies.
Taddy, a senior from Two Rivers, Wis., was a second team selection in 2007. She is majoring in biology and ornamental horticulture and carries a 3.62 grade point average.
Hasselquist claimed the WIAC Judy Kruckman Scholar-Athlete Award for indoor track and field this season. She is a senior from Osceola, Wis., and is majoring in health and human performance and upholds a 3.71 grade point average.
Faller, Lutz, Schetter, Taddy and Hasselquist are eligible for the Academic All-America Team that will be announced June 25.
Hertz, a senior from Baraboo, Wis., boasts a 3.92 grade point average and is majoring in biochemistry, while Humbach, a sophomore from Madison, Wis. (Abundant Life H.S.), is majoring in biochemistry/molecular biology and carries a 3.95 grade point average.
Scott, a junior from Kiel, Wis., is majoring in biology/pre-physical therapy and maintains a 3.64 grade point average.
A junior from Pocatello, Idaho, Jordahl sustains a 3.49 grade point average while majoring in exercise science.
