Day One Recap

UW-La Crosse Earns Second Consecutive Women’s Indoor Track and Field Title

UW-La CrosseSuperior, Wis.--University of Wisconsin-La Crosse earned its second consecutive Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Women’s Indoor Track and Field title on March 1 in UW-Superior’s Lydia Thering Fieldhouse.

The Eagles claimed the 18th championship in program history after winning three events during the second day of competition and finishing the two-day event with 192.33 team points.  

UW-Eau Claire placed second with 137.83 points, UW-Oshkosh third with 115.50, UW-River Falls fourth with 74, UW-Stevens Point fifth with 51, UW-Platteville sixth with 46.50, UW-Whitewater seventh with 37.50, UW-Stout eighth with 35.33 and UW-Superior ninth with 12.

UW-La Crosse’s Caitlin Schetter won the triple jump with a leap of 11.34m, while AnnMarie Glejf earned the pentathlon with 3,241 points.

The Eagles’ 4x200-meter relay team placed first with a time of 1:44.27.

UW-Platteville’s Marcia Taddy claimed the 800-meter run and one-mile run for the third consecutive year with times of 2:10.35 and 4:53.07, respectively.  Her time in the 800-meter run established a conference record.

UW-Whitewater’s Brooke Bell was also a double-winner after finishing first in the 55-meter dash and 200-meter dash.  She won the 55-meter event with a time of 7.28 and the 200-meter competition with a time of 25.63.

UW-River Falls’ Becca Jordahl earned her second first-place medal in as many days after placing first in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 9:56.46.  She won the 5,000-meter run during Friday’s festivities.

The Falcons’ Jessica Reed won the 55-meter hurdles with a time of 8.64.

UW-Eau Claire’s Liz Kooistra secured the 400-meter dash with a time of 57.80, while Amy Morse claimed the 20-pound weight throw with a fling of 16.59m.

The Blugolds claimed the 4x400-meter relay with a performance of 3:57.89.
