UW-Oshkosh’s Rosenbaum Named AVCA National Player of the Week
Madison, Wis.--Leah Rosenbaum, a senior middle blocker for then-No. 7 UW-Oshkosh, has been named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week.
The Wrightstown, Wis. native earned the award for her play in helping the Titans win four matches at the Illinois Wesleyan tournament this past weekend, including an upset of then-No. 4 Emory University (Ga.). In the Titans’ upset sweep of the Eagles, Rosenbaum put away 15 kills in 20 attempts with only one error for an incredible .700 hitting percentage.
UW-Oshkosh then ended the first day of play in the tournament with a 3-1 triumph over Hope College (Mich.) in which Rosenbaum hit at a .375 clip behind 18 kills, while also adding five total blocks in the win.
She started the second day of the event with 13 kills on 21 attacks and zero errors for a .619 hitting percentage in the Titans’ sweep of Millikin University (Ill.).
Rosenbaum then ended the tournament with a 15 kill, eight-total block performance in the Titans’ 3-2 win over host Illinois Wesleyan. For the week, she hit .437, averaging 4.06 kills, 1.13 blocks and 4.83 points per game, netting herself all-tournament honors.
Rosenbaum is the third student-athlete from UW-Oshkosh to earn Sports Imports/AVCA Division III National Player of the Week honors, and the first since Christina Southward in October of 2001.
