Titans Establish NCAA Record
Oshkosh, Wis.--It was a historical match for the UW-Oshkosh women's volleyball team on Sept. 24 in Kolf Sports Center as the Titans swept Beloit College and broke the NCAA Division III record for consecutive games won.
UW-Oshkosh (17-1), ranked eighth in the NCAA Division III by the American Volleyball Coaches Association, won its 17th straight match and 51st consecutive game by outscoring Beloit College (8-7) in contests of 30-26, 30-15 and 30-28.
UW-Oshkosh's victory in the second contest surpassed a 49-game winning streak that Washington University (Mo.) put together for a NCAA Division III record in 1995. The Titans then won their 51st consecutive game in the third contest to establish the eighth-longest streak in NCAA Division I, II or III history. Division I member University of Florida won 105 consecutive games in 2003 to set the all-time NCAA record, while Division I member Long Beach State University (Calif.) ranks second with 69.
