Five Teams Claim Spot In NCAA Women’s Volleyball Tournament

Madison, Wis.--For the second time in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) history, five teams will participate in the NCAA Division III Women’s Volleyball Tournament. 

UW-Eau Claire, UW-La Crosse, UW-Oshkosh, UW-Platteville and UW-Whitewater will represent the league in this year’s 61-team tournament field.  Ironically, the same five teams participated in the 1997 national event.

UW-Whitewater (31-4) and UW-Eau Claire (22-10) will compete in an eight-team regional hosted by University of St. Thomas (Minn.), while UW-La Crosse (24-9), UW-Oshkosh (31-5) and UW-Platteville (24-12) will contend in an eight-team regional hosted by Carthage College.   Regional competition will be held Nov. 8-10.

The Warhawks earned an automatic bid into the national tournament by winning the WIAC Tournament, while the remaining WIAC representatives claimed four of the 19 at-large spots.

Semifinals - Nov. 9
Washington/Hanover winner vs. UW-Oshkosh/UW-Platteville winner, 4:30 p.m.
UW-La Crosse/Calvin winner vs. Carroll/Carthage winner, 7 p.m.

Championship - Nov. 10
