ITA All-Academic Awards Announced
Madison, Wis.--The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and UW-Whitewater women’s tennis teams have been named to the 2006-07 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team. In addition, nine Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference student-athletes were recognized as ITA Scholar-Athletes.
Individuals receiving recognition included: UW-La Crosse’s Angie Riedel, Sarah Schoenwaelder, Jenny Sponholtz and Julie Tellefsen, UW-Oshkosh’s Brittany Braasch and Melissa Fosdick and UW-Whitewater’s Jessie Farrar, Kelly Rutkowski and Kara Theis.
The Eagles and Warhawks were eligible for the team award after achieving a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status an individual must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman thorough senior year).
