UW-Whitewater Claims Women's Tennis Crown

Madison, Wis.--University of Wisconsin-Whitewater claimed the 2004 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) women's tennis championship following the completion of competition during the two-day league tournament at Nielsen Tennis Stadium.

The conference title for the Warhawks is the first since 1990 and seventh in school history. They also secured league crowns in 1988, 1987, 1985, 1984 and 1982.

UW-Whitewater claimed the crowns at No. 2, No. 3, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles during the second day of the tournament after winning doubles titles at No. 1 and No. 2 on the first day.

UW-Whitewater's Frank Barnes was voted the Coach of the Year by the league coaches, while the Warhawks' Kristin Chamberlain received the Judy Kruckman Women's Tennis Scholar-Athlete Award.
