Regional Brackets: Eau Claire / Rock Island
Three Teams Invited To NCAA Women’s Softball Tournament
Madison, Wis.--For the second consecutive season, three Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) schools will be represented in the NCAA Division III Women’s Softball Tournament.
UW-Eau Claire, UW-Oshkosh and UW-Whitewater have been selected to participate in the 59-team tournament field and will compete in regional action on May 8-12. The Blugolds and Titans were joined by UW-Stevens Point in postseason action a year ago.
UW-Oshkosh (28-9) earned an automatic bid into the national event by winning the WIAC Tournament, while UW-Eau Claire (28-11) and UW-Whitewater (30-8) claimed two of the 18 at-large bids.
The Blugolds and Titans will compete in a regional in Eau Claire, Wis., while the Warhawks will travel to Rock Island, Ill. Both regionals feature eight teams and are double-elimination format.
UW-Eau Claire is making the program’s seventh appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament, while UW-Oshkosh is making its sixth trip and UW-Whitewater a 13th showing.
Winners of the eight regionals from around the country will advance to the championship round on May 16-20 in Salem, Va.
