Six Claim Academic All-District Women's Soccer Honors
Madison, Wis.--For the second straight year, six Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) student-athletes have been named to the 2007 CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Five College Division Women’s Soccer Team.
UW-Stevens Point’s Meredith DeCaluwe and UW-Whitewater’s Mary Donohoo were first team selections, while UW-Oshkosh’s Maggie Hoffman was a second team choice. UW-Eau Claire’s Liz Kooistra, Abby Ofstedahl and Anna Talbot were third team picks.
The team is comprised of all NCAA Division II, Division III and NAIA student-athletes from Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana and Minnesota and is voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
DeCaluwe, a senior from Naperville, Ill. (Central H.S.), earned all-district honors for the third straight year. She was first team choice a year ago and a second team selection in 2005. DeCaluwe is majoring in math education with a minor in sociology and boasts a 3.99 grade point average. She was named the WIAC Judy Kruckman Scholar-Athlete in women’s soccer this season.
Donohoo, a junior from Wauwatosa, Wis. (West H.S.), was one of six individuals on the 11-member first team to carry a 4.00 grade point average. She is majoring in elementary education.
DeCaluwe and Donohoo are eligible for the Academic All-America Team that will be announced on Nov. 20.
A native of Waukesha, Wis. (South H.S.), Hoffman is a senior with a 3.83 grade point average and is majoring in English.
Kooistra, a junior from Lakeville, Minn., maintains a 3.55 grade point average and is majoring in psychology.
Ofstedahl and Talbot, both seniors from Apple Valley, Minn. (Eastview H.S.), received all-district third team status for the second consecutive year. Ofstedahl is majoring in economics with a 3.67 grade point average, while Talbot carries a 3.78 grade point average and is majoring in communication disorders.
