WEAU's Gallaher and WQOW's Bradovich Receive Tom Butler Award

Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic ConferenceMadison, Wis.--WEAU's Bob Gallaher and WQOW's Bob Bradovich have been named recipients of the 2005-06 Tom Butler Award from the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC). Both individuals received their award at the annual WIAC Football Media Day on August 8.

Gallaher has served as the weeknight sports director/anchor at WEAU-TV 13 in Eau Claire, Wis., since 1998. He produces and anchors sportscasts for NewsCenter 13 at six and ten and also produces and co-anchors Sportscene 13. Previously, he served as weekend sports anchor/reporter for NewsCenter 13 from 1994-98. Gallaher began his television career as a news editor/producer for WTMJ-TV in Milwaukee, Wis. from 1992-94 and also served as the weekend morning news anchor during that time.

Gallaher is a native of Clarendon Hills, Ill., and attended high school at Benet Academy in Lisle, Ill. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in journalism and marketing from Marquette University in 1990.

Bradovich joined the WQOW-TV 18 news team in 1996 and serves as sports anchor. His broadcast experience includes stops in Mason City, Iowa, where he was the weekend sports anchor at KIMT-TV, as well as WNNE-TV in White River Junction, Vermont, where he worked as a reporter/videographer in both news and sports. While attending graduate school at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Bradovich interned in the sports department at WKOW-TV. He received his master's degree in journalism and mass communications.

Bradovich serves as one of the play-by-play announcers for the WIAA hockey and basketball state tournament telecasts. His work has been recognized by the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association with Merit Awards in 2003 and 2004 in the best sports reporting category, as well as a 1997 Merit Award for use of the medium.

He is originally from Chisholm, Minn. and attended Carleton College (Minn.), where he was a three-year letterwinner on the baseball team.

The Tom Butler Award has been presented annually by the conference since 1998 and is voted on by the conference's sports information directors. The award is given to a representative of the print or electronic media who is considered to have provided outstanding coverage to WIAC athletics. The honor is dedicated to Tom Butler, who served the conference faithfully for nearly three decades as its sports information director.
