Four Schools Ranked in Top 25 of Directors' Cup Standings

United States Sports AcademyMadison, Wis.--Four Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) schools are ranked in the top 25 of the United States Sports Academy Directors' Cup final fall standings. UW-Whitewater leads the league contingent in seventh place, followed by UW-La Crosse in 10th, UW-Oshkosh in 24th and UW-Eau Claire in 25th. The standings recognize the best NCAA Division III overall athletics programs in the country.

UW-Whitewater is seventh with 215 points, while UW-La Crosse is 10th with 180 points, UW-Oshkosh is 24th with 143 points and UW-Eau Claire is 25th with 142 points.

Additional WIAC institutions represented in the standings include UW-Stevens Point in 83rd with 60 points and UW-Platteville tied for 93rd with 50 points.

The College of New Jersey leads the national standings with 339 points, followed by Messiah (Pa.) with 290 points, Calvin (Mich.) with 283 points, Tufts (Mass.) with 252 points and Trinity (Texas) with 221 points.

League highlights from the fall season included UW-Whitewater's national championship in women's volleyball and second-place finish in football. UW-La Crosse secured a national title in men's cross country and fourth-place standing in women's cross country.

These are the final fall standings and include the sports of women and men's cross country, field hockey, football, women and men's soccer and women's volleyball.

The U.S. Sports Academy Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. The United States Sports Academy, based in Daphne, Alabama, is sponsoring the program. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 18 sports -- nine women's and nine men's.
