Former Blugold Added To Madison Sports Hall of Fame
Madison, Wis.--Former University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire standout Carolyn Sheild was added to the Madison Sports Hall of Fame on Tuesday, June 7 in a ceremony held at the Monona Terrace.
Sheild was a three-time All-American in track and field at UW-Eau Claire, winning the NAIA outdoor national title in the 3,000-meter run in 1983, and earned two All-America honors in swimming in 1981. She was a Madison La Follette standout in the late 1970s, having qualified for seven WIAA state meets - four in track and field and three in swimming.
Sheild was one of four inductees in the 2005 class, which also included Peter Tegen, LeRoy "Luke" Collins and Gary Kolpin.
