UW-Stevens Point Finishes 18th at NCAA Men’s Swimming and Diving Championship

NCAA Swimming and Diving ChampionshipOxford, Ohio--University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point finished 18th at the NCAA Division III Men’s Swimming and Diving Championship held March 20-22 at Miami University.  The national meet was hosted by the College of Wooster (Ohio).

The Pointers compiled 55 team points and were joined in the scoring column by UW-Oshkosh’s 27th-place total of 26 points. A total of 54 teams earned points at the national meet.

Kenyon College (Ohio) won its 29th consecutive national championship with 635 team points to easily outdistance the second-place total of 330 points set by Johns Hopkins University (Md.).  Denison University (Ohio) took third with 314.50 points, Emory University (Ga.) fourth with 261 points and Williams College (Mass.) fifth with 211 points.

The top eight finishers in each event claimed All-America honors, while places 9-16 earned honorable mention All-America status.

50-Yard Freestyle: Chase Gross (UW-Stevens Point-6th)

100-Yard Freestyle:  Chase Gross (UW-Stevens Point-12th)

100-Yard Butterfly:  Chase Gross (UW-Stevens Point-2nd), Matt Olp (UW-Stevens Point-13th)

200-Yard Freestyle Relay:  UW-Stevens Point (Chase Gross, Willie Clapp, Rob Donsich, Matt Olp-13th)

200-Yard Medley Relay:  UW-Stevens Point (Willie Clapp, Matt Olp, Rob Donisch, Chase Gross-14th)

400-Yard Medley Relay:  UW-Stevens Point (Willie Clapp, Matt Olp, Rob Donisch, Chase Gross-16th)

One-Meter Diving:  Jacob Chadderdon (UW-Oshkosh-2nd)

Three-Meter Diving: Jacob Chadderdon (UW-Oshkosh-9th)
