4x400-meter relay team (David Kolbe, Freshman, Chilton – Jonathan Doble, Junior, Brookfield (Central) – Jeremy Deterville, Senior, Luxemburg (Luxemburg-Casco) – Tony Marcinek, Senior, Park Ridge, Ill. (Maine South), of UW-La Crosse
UW-La Crosse’s 4x400-meter relay finished first at the Drake (Iowa) Relays on April 28 with a NCAA Division III automatic qualifying time of 3:09.18. It is the best time in the country this season. The relay team defeated the defending NCAA Division II and NAIA champions in the event.

Stelzer placed fifth in the javelin throw at the Drake (Iowa) Relays with a NCAA Division III automatic qualifying mark of 206-8. It is the second farthest throw in the country this season.

Rodney Swanson, Senior (Hudson), of UW-Whitewater
Swanson won the 400-meter dash with a NCAA Division III provisional qualifying time of 48.15 at the Augustana (Ill.) Meet of Champions on April 21. He was also a member of the 4x100-meter relay team that automatically qualified for the national championship with a time of 40.63.

Kyle Steiner, Senior (Grafton), of UW-Stevens Point
Steiner automatically qualified for the NCAA Division III Championship in the decathlon at the Augustana (Ill.) Meet of Champions on April 21. He dominated the event and totaled 6,825 points, which is the top-ranked performance in the country this season. Steiner won five of the 10 events and finished runner-up in three others. He won the decathlon high jump, shot put, discus, pole vault and 1,500-meter run.

Marcus Walgrave, Senior (Luverne, Minn.), of UW-La Crosse
Walgrave won the 100-meter dash (10.52) and placed second in the 200-meter dash (21.46) at the UW-Platteville Invitational on April 15. He automatically qualified for the NCAA Division III Championship in the 100-meter dash and provisionally qualified in the 200-meter dash. His time in the 200 also was a personal best. Walgrave was a member of the Eagles’ 4x100-meter relay (41.14) that set a provisional qualifying mark.

Zach Johnson, Senior (Clintonville), of UW-Oshkosh
Johnson won the pole vault with a height of 17-0 at the UW-Platteville Invitational on April 15. His performance surpassed the automatic qualifying standard for the NCAA Division III Championship and broke UW-Oshkosh’s record in the event by over five inches.

Adam Baumann, Senior (Marathon), of UW-Stevens Point
Baumann had three first-place finishes and led the Pointers to a third-place standing at the North Central College (Ill.) First Chance Meet on March 31. He captured the 110-meter hurdles in 15.48 and won the 400-meter event in 54.98. Baumann also anchored the winning 4x100-meter relay team that finished with a NCAA provisional qualifying time of 42.00.

Jacob Gabrilska, Senior (Pine River/Wild Rose), of UW-Oshkosh
Gabrilska won the hammer throw and took second in the discus as UW-Oshkosh finished second at the North Central College (Ill.) First Chance Meet on March 31. He provisionally qualified for the NCAA Division III Championship in the hammer throw with a fling of 175-10 and finished second in the discus with a cast of 142-0.
