Week of Feb. 14 - 20
Kerry Gibson, Sophomore (Jefferson),
Center of UW-Oshkosh
Gibson totaled 27 points, 18 rebounds, seven blocked shots and two assists as
UW-Oshkosh recorded victories over UW-Eau Claire and UW-Stevens Point to finish
third in the WIAC standings. Against UW-Eau Claire on February 16, Gibson scored
10 points, grabbed nine rebounds, blocked three shots and dished off one assist
as the Titans defeated the Blugolds, 67-60. Against UW-Stevens Point on February
19, Gibson scored 17 points, grabbed nine rebounds, blocked four shots and dished
off one assist as the Titans defeated the Pointers, 74-59. UW-Stevens Point
entered the contest as the top-ranked team in the NCAA Division III by D3hoops.com.
Gibson's performance for the two games also included nine-of-18 shooting from
the field and nine-for-10 shooting from the free-throw line. Gibson's seven
blocked shots give him 71 for the season, the fourth-highest count in WIAC history.

Bennett posted his highest scoring total of the season by dropping in 31 points,
including 24 in the second half, against UW-Whitewater on February 9. He missed
his first five shots, but made 10 of his next 12, including five three-point
baskets. On February 12, Bennett went six-of-10 from the field and finished
with 19 points in a win over UW-Superior. For the week, he was 16-of-27, including
seven-of-13 from the three-point line, and 11-of-12 on free throws. Bennett
scored 50 points, had six rebounds, four assists and three steals.

Kalsow posted his first career 30-point game and inched closer to UW-Stevens
Point's all-time scoring record. He made 11-of-15 shots, including three-of-five
from three-point range, and six-of-eight free throws to finish with a career-best
31 points against UW-Eau Claire on February 5. He added seven assists, five
rebounds and one steal in the contest. Kalsow has 1,641 points and is now just
eight points short of matching Tim Naegli's all-time school scoring record.

Reitzner matched his career-high of 31 points in a 73-58 win over No. 1-ranked
UW-Stevens Point on January 26. He scored 24 points in the second half and at
one time scored 16 straight for the Pioneers, who moved into a first-place tie
with the Pointers with the victory. Reitzner made 9-of-15 shots from the field,
including five-of-eight from the three-point arc and eight-of-nine from the
free throw line.

Mark Gossens, Sophomore (Little Chute/Fox
Valley Lutheran), Forward of UW-Platteville
Gossens led the Pioneers to second place in the WIAC standings with victories
over UW-Stout and UW-Eau Claire this week. He averaged a double-double in the
wins with 11.5 points and 11.0 rebounds per contest. In a 67-59 victory over
No. 18-ranked UW-Stout, he scored 16 points on six-of-six shooting from the
field and four-of-four shooting from the line. He also grabbed a game-high 10
rebounds and dished out three assists. Gossens secured a game-high 12 rebounds
in the win over UW-Eau Claire. In the two games, he made eight-of-15 shots from
the field, seven-of-nine from the line and dished out seven assists.

Chandler played an integral part in both UW-Stout wins last week. For the second
game in a row, Chandler scored a career high as UW-Stout downed No. 24-ranked
UW-Oshkosh, 74-65, in Oshkosh on January 11. He led the Blue Devils with a career-high
21 points, hitting eight-of-11 from the floor, including four-of-six from three-point
range. Chandler paced UW-Stout to a 37-21 halftime lead over UW-Eau Claire by
scoring 11 of his game-high 19 points in the first half of a 76-54 victory over
the Blugolds on January 15. Against the Blugolds, he was five-of-11 from floor,
including four-of-eight from three-point range. On the week, Chandler scored
40 points, hitting 13-of-22 from the floor, eight-of-14 from three-point range,
six-of-eight from the line, had seven steals, five rebounds and four assists.

Griffin led the Warhawks to a pair of WIAC victories during the week, including
a 71-63 win over previously undefeated and No. 1-ranked UW-Stevens Point. Against
the Pointers, he had 16 points on eight-of-13 shooting from the field and a
game-high eight rebounds. In a 73-68 victory at UW-River Falls, Griffin led
the Warhawks with 21 points and a game-high eight rebounds. In the two games,
he had 37 points, 16 rebounds, two assists and shot three-of-three from the
free throw line and 17-of-26 (65.4 percent) from the field.

Jahnke averaged 21.8 points, 6 rebounds and 3.9 three-point field goals per
contest as UW-Oshkosh posted a 3-1 record. In UW-Oshkosh's 77-72 win over Carroll
College on Dec. 22, Jahnke scored a career-high 29 points on nine-of-16 shooting
from the field and six-of-eight shooting from the free-throw line. He also grabbed
six rebounds and dished off three assists. In UW-Oshkosh's 60-59 loss to North
Central (Ill.) on Dec. 27, Jahnke scored 21 points, grabbed eight rebounds and
dished off three assists. In UW-Oshkosh's 88-61 win over Purdue University-North
Central (Ind.), Jahnke scored 21 points and grabbed nine rebounds. He also scored
16 points and dished off three assists in UW-Oshkosh's 81-71 victory over Cardinal
Stritch on Dec. 30. Jahnke concluded the four games shooting 32-of-66 from the
field, including 15-of-31 behind the three-point line. He also converted eight-of-10
free throw tosses.

Williams was named the Most Valuable Player at the Holland Sentinel Community
Tournament in Holland, Mich. after leading the Warhawks to the tournament title.
In a 93-61 win over Concordia (Mich.) in the semifinals, he had a game-high
15 points and five rebounds with one blocked shot and one steal. In a 68-66
championship game victory over Hope (Mich.), Williams had a game-high 22 points
with five rebounds and a steal with two seconds remaining to preserve the victory.
In the two contests, he scored 37 points on 13-of-22 shooting from the field,
including seven-of-10 from the three-point arch, and hauled in 10 rebounds.

Drake helped the Blugolds earn two conference victories during the week to remain
one game behind first-place UW-Stevens Point in the league standings. He led
all scorers with 23 points, while grabbing seven rebounds in a 64-54 victory
over No. 14-ranked UW-Oshkosh handing the Titans their first loss to UW-Eau
Claire since February 24, 2001. Drake shot eight-of-16 from the floor, including
two-of-three from the three-point arc and five-of-seven from the free throw
line. In a 69-55 victory at UW-La Crosse, he led all scorers with 20 points
to go with a team-best seven rebounds and four assists. Drake was eight-of-15
from the field in the contest against the Eagles and two-of-two from the free-throw
line.

Coleman led UW-Stout in scoring in both games as the young Blue Devils defeated
defending conference champion UW-River Falls, 83-43, on November 30, and edged
No. 15-ranked UW-Whitewater, 74-73, on December 3 in Whitewater. He scored a
career-high 22 points, including 18 in the first half, against the Warhawks.
In the win over the Falcons, Coleman came off the bench to lead all scorers
with 15 points. On the week, Coleman scored 37 points (18.5 ppg), hitting 15-of-23
(65.2 percent) from the floor, six-of-seven from three-point range, one-of-two
from the line, had four rebounds, four steals and one assist.

Reed was named the Most Valuable Player at the Rochester (N.Y.) Invitational
as UW-Superior claimed the team title. He scored a team-high 24 points, including
10-of-13 from the foul line, and dished out three assists with one steal in
a 72-67 victory over No. 9 ranked Rochester in the championship game. Reed nailed
five free throws in the final 3:57 as UW-Superior held its lead. In a 88-84
win over St. Lawrence (N.Y.), he scored 19 points on four-of-six shooting from
beyond the arc and had four assists, three steals and one block. He also had
15 points, seven assists and five steals in a 81-46 victory over Northland on
November 23.

Kalsow was named the most valuable player at the Midway Classic hosted by Chicago
(Ill.). He matched his career-high with 28 points as he led the Pointers to
a 70-58 victory in the championship game against the host Maroons. Kalsow scored
the first seven points in a 22-3 second half run, which gave the Pointers the
lead for good. On Saturday, Kalsow was eight-of-10 from the field and finished
with 17 points against Southwestern (Texas). For the week, Kalsow was 19-of-30
from the field and totaled 45 points. He had nine rebounds, seven assists, five
blocks, five steals and just one turnover.
