Blugolds and Pointers Earn NCAA Women’s Golf Bids

NCAA Women's GolfMadison, Wis.--For the third time in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) history, two teams will participate in the NCAA Division III Women’s Golf Championship.

UW-Eau Claire and UW-Stevens Point will compete at the national event that will be held at Centennial Oaks Golf Club in Waverly, Iowa on May 13-16.  The festivities will be hosted by Wartburg College (Iowa).

UW-Eau Claire and UW-Oshkosh represented the conference in the event during the 2003 and 2004 seasons.

The Pointers earned an automatic bid into this year’s 20-team field by winning the WIAC championship in the fall, while the Blugolds claimed one of nine at-large bids.

UW-Stevens Point will appear in the event as a team for the first time in program history, while UW-Eau Claire will make an eighth consecutive trip.

The championship will consist of both team and individual competition conducted concurrently.  The meet features 72 holes of play over four days of competition.  In the team standings, the low four scores from each team for each day will count in the team’s total score.
