Warhawks Roll To NCAA Football Semifinals

NCAA FootballWhitewater, Wis.--University of Wisconsin-Whitewater’s postseason journey will continue after the Warhawks rolled to a 47-7 triumph over Wabash College (Ind.) in the NCAA Division III Football Championship Quarterfinals at wintery Perkins Stadium on Dec. 1.

The Warhawks (12-1) will host the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor (Texas) (12-1) in a semifinal contest on Dec. 8 at noon with the winner advancing to the NCAA Division III championship game – the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl in Salem, Va. on Dec. 15.  UW-Whitewater handed the Crusaders their only loss this season - a 41-14 setback on Oct. 27 in Whitewater.

Against Wabash (11-2), the Warhawks converted three Little Giant first-quarter interceptions into 21 points to race to a 28-0 lead after the first quarter and held a 35-0 advantage at halftime.

Danny Jones completed nine-of-15 passes for 181 yards and four touchdowns.   He also rushed for one score.

Brady Pitz had 156 rushing yards on 21 attempts and one touchdown, while Justin Beaver contributed 145 yards on 21 carries with one touchdown.

UW-Whitewater intercepted five Wabash passes in the contest with Matt Blaziewske taking away two.

The Warhawks racked up 523 yards of total offense, while limiting the Little Giants to 196 yards, including 17 rushing yards.
