Eight Earn D3football.com First Team Honors
Madison, Wis.--Eight Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) individuals have been named to the 2007 D3football.com All-West Region First Team. In addition, UW-Whitewater’s Justin Beaver and Ryan Ogrizovich were recognized as the region’s Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year, respectively.
This marks the second straight year that the conference has boasted the region’s players of the year after Beaver won the award a year ago, along with teammate Ryan Kleppe.
Also claiming first team status were: UW-La Crosse’s Randy Gyllin (Sr., OL), UW-Oshkosh’s Andy Moriarty (Sr., RB) and UW-Whitewater’s Brent Allen (Sr., C), Ben Farley (Sr., DB), A.J. Raebel (Sr., LB) and Jeff Schebler (So., K).
Second team selections included: UW-Oshkosh’s Bryan Kent (Sr., DB), Kyle Kubasa (Sr., TE), Eric Stenbroten (Sr., LB) and Andy Versnik (Sr., OL), UW-River Falls’ Jordan Miller (Sr., OL), Gregg Neumann (Sr., DL) and Michael Zweifel (Fr., WR) and UW-Whitewater’s Danny Jones (Sr., QB).
Securing third team recognition were: UW-Eau Claire’s Mitch Schaeuble (Sr., P) and Dave Wicklund (Sr., DB), UW-River Falls’ Nathan Anderson (Sr., RB), UW-Stevens Point’s Brad Vickroy (Jr., DL), UW-Stout’s Wendell Eskridge (Sr., DB) and UW-Whitewater’s Tristan Borzick (Sr., LB) and Dan Anstett (Sr., OL).
The West Region includes players representing the WIAC, Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, Midwest Conference, Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, Northwest Conference and Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
The teams, selected in balloting by West Region sports information directors and D3football.com staff, were chosen from 195 nominations by Division III member schools. A total of 76 players were chosen.
