Five Claim Baseball Academic All-District Honors
Madison, Wis.--Five Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) individuals have been named to the 2008 CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Five College Division Baseball Team.
UW-Whitewater’s Ben Prather and Tom Corcoran were first team selections, while UW-La Crosse’s Mike Brehm and the Warhawks’ Billy Johnson were second team choices. UW-Stevens Point’s Brad Archambeau was a third team pick.
The team is comprised of all NCAA Division II, Division III and NAIA student-athletes from Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana and Minnesota and is voted on by members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). To be nominated for the award, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) for their career and have at least a sophomore standing.
Prather, a senior from Chicago, Ill. (James B. Conant H.S.), is majoring in education with a history emphasis and carries a 3.75 grade point average, while Corcoran, a senior from Rochester, Minn., maintains a 3.64 grade point average and is majoring in physics with a minor in mathematics.
Prather and Corcoran are eligible for the Academic All-America Team that will be announced May 27.
Brehm, a senior from Spencer, Wis., boasts a 3.98 grade point average and is majoring in business management and public administration with a minor in pre-law. Johnson, a senior from Kenosha, Wis. (Tremper H.S.), is majoring in finance and management and carries a 3.50 grade point average.
Archambeau, a sophomore from Watertown, Wis., maintains a 3.84 grade point average and is majoring in business administration.
