A. Transferring a File from the TIS
Server to a Local Computer:
1. Using
a Web browser
b. Change to the subdirectory associated with the distribution
file:
- batch/data
for data files
- batch/reports
for complete course reports, department/curricular area
and general education table files
- batch/reports/course
for course submission report files
- batch/reports/equiv
for equivalency submission report files
c. Click on the desired file to view it.
NOTE: If the file list or the file appear to be outdated,
you may need to reload the page or delete cached web pages
(temporary internet files) so the correct page is loaded.
d. Pull down the File menu and select 'Save As' to save
the file to a local drive. Select text file (.txt) as the
'save as type.'
2. Using
local FTP software

Use the 'Get' command (or an equivalent copy command) to
transfer the desired file.
B.
Data and Report File Designations:
1. Each
TIS file will contain a Year/Term designation in the YYYT
format described below. The designation will change each term.
YYY
= Academic year of data/report (e.g. 067 for fall and spring
2006-07; 067 for summer 2007)
T = Term of update report ('1' = Fall,
'2' = Spring, '3' = Summer)
2. Institution-specific TIS files contain a Unit Code (*)
or an Institution Abbreviation (***) designating the institution.
(See TIS Institution Table in TIS Maintenance Manual for listing.)

Course Distribution Files:
1. The
course data files listed below may be used to facilitate TIS
equivalency submissions.
- batch\data\course.all.YYYT
includes all undergraduate courses from all UW institutions,
UW-Extension independent learning courses, and all
WTCS liberal arts (college parallel) and general education transferable courses. (Approximate file size = 25 megabytes)
- batch\data\course.fs.YYYT
includes all lower level (freshman/sophomore) courses
from all UW institutions, UW-Extension independent learning
courses, and WTCS liberal arts (college parallel) and applied associate
degree courses. (Approximate
file size = 19 megabytes)
2. The complete course report files listed below are text
files that may be used to locally view or print course reports.
The course populations are the same as those described in
Item 1 above.

- batch\reports\course.fs.YYYT
- all lower level (freshman/sophomore) courses (Approximate
file size = 13 megabytes)
