November
26-27, 2001
Eight months later, people are still talking about the 2000 Wisconsin Economic Summit. If you attended, know someone who did, or have read the post-summit report, you realize what a significant and timely event this was for our state. In many respects, it was a turning point in our thinking about the future direction of Wisconsin's economy. More than 1,000 leaders of business, government and education came together to discuss, to connect with each other, and to outline an agenda for growth. That agenda had a tremendous, positive influence on the recently concluded state budget process. Just as important, the conversations and connections begun in Milwaukee are still going on around the state. One good Summit deserves another! We're pleased to announce that a second Wisconsin Economic Summit will be held Monday-Tuesday, November 26-27 at the Midwest Express Center in Milwaukee. You are invited to participate. Details will be available on our website (www.wisconsin.edu/summit) as the date approaches, including program, registration and hotel information. Governor Scott McCallum will address the meeting, as will legislative leaders from both parties. Keynote speakers are being selected now, along with regional panelists and other presenters representing a variety of backgrounds and perspectives. You won't want to miss it. You can't afford to miss it. If the first Summit was any indication, the second promises to be an event you will long remember. With the 2002 race for Governor in full swing, it's possible the Summit will be a defining moment in the campaign leading up to the election. We look forward to seeing you! Jay
