Governor's approval has been requested and received for waiver of sealed bid procedures for maintenance and repair service for classroom, research and instructional and miscellaneous facility equipment which can be obtained from only a sole source. This is primarily for maintenance on computer and medical equipment but also includes maintenance on some specialized high technology equipment for office, classroom and laboratory use.
This waiver is only used after confirming that 1) it must be a true sole source, with the vendor as the original manufacturer of the equipment, and 2) the repair and/or maintenance needed must be needed in order to keep the classrooms, research facility or building up and running.
