Deirdre M. Monk
Deirdre Monk received her B.F.A. from Western Michigan University
and her M.F.A. from Southern Illinois University. She is currently an
assistant professor of art at UW-Eau Claire. Language is at the root of
her imagery. Her interest lies in defining the relationship between the
textual and the pictorial and in identifying the dichotomy between the
fantastic and a perceived state of reality. Her work often involves the
author-subject-image-audience relationship and the nature of codes.
