UPS Communication

Every institution in the University of Wisconsin System is tasked with communicating UPS information to their respective employees, as well as providing opportunities to gather and address employee feedback and questions. Listed below is information regarding each institution's communication plan. Information on UPS can also be found on the My Wisconsin portal (My UW for UW-Madison employees). 

UW Colleges

  • Electronic communication - link the UWSA UPS website from portal page, draft and distribute email updates, regular email communication with various stakeholder groups
  • Internal meetings - monthly WisLine Web meetings, regular meetings with University Communications

UW-Eau Claire

  • Electronic communication - link to UWSA UPS website, create email distribution lists, share meeting minutes through email
  • Internal meetings - project team meetings; meet with News Bureau to distribute updates to a broader audience; communicate to stakeholders through senate, classified council, email lists, chairs, directors, divisional meetings, etc.

UW-Extension

  • Electronic communication – work with University Relations established communications strategies and vehicles (e.g., the web based employee newsletter "News and Ideas"), link the UPS website on the portal page and homepage
  • Internal meetings - University Relations staff; updates to members of the chancellor's Executive Team, the Faculty Senate, the Academic Staff Council, the Cooperative Extension Classified Staff Organization and the institution wide Human Resources Team; updates at Human Resources team meetings

UW-Green Bay

  • Electronic communication - UPS web link on HR website and portal, regularly email written updates to all UW-employees and students (LOG Updates), create templates to establish UPS identity
  • Internal meetings - updates for stakeholders, collect feedback through governance groups (Academic Staff Conf., Classified Staff Advisory Council, Provosts ADA’s, and Chancellor’s Leadership Team)

UW-La Crosse

  • Electronic communication - link to UPS website, provide UPS event information on web, email updates, regular e-newsletters updates (HR News You Can Use (monthly) and Campus Connection (weekly)
  • Internal meetings - January 30 meeting to provide broad UPS overview, HR Brown Bags (monthly) for general campus community, work group and task force meetings, outreach to governance groups

UW-Madison

  • Electronic communication - HR Design Project web site updated frequently with new information, online polls and surveys, updates in the campus faculty and staff twice-weekly newsletter Inside UW, campus-wide emails communicating engagement opportunities, dedicated email address to receive questions and comments, Web chats with the campus community, video and audio of campus forums
  • Internal meetings - Campus-wide forums, focus groups, engagement events, project work team meetings
  • Paper/hard copy communication - printed and translated materials for individuals who don't use computers regularly and/or are English-learners

UW-Milwaukee

  • Electronic communication - link to UPS website, biweekly email updates, HR e-newsletter
  • Internal meetings - UPS staff will visit groups, committees, and councils to give updates and collect feedback

UW-Oshkosh

  • Electronic communication – An all employee email introducing UPS and refer them to the UPS website for more information (February 2012), all employee email updating on the progress of UPS and inform them on upcoming feedback opportunities (April 2012), all employee email on open forums
  • Internal meetings - Chancellor’s staff (10/1/2011), employee groups (October/November 2011), executive group of Classified Staff Advisory Council (1/20/2012), key stakeholders (February-July 2012), share initial draft to Chancellor’s Staff (June 2012), share initial draft with governance groups and hold an open forum (Summer/Fall 2012), Chancellor’s Staff on final version of UPS (January 2013)

UW-Parkside
