DEFINITION: The official name of the facility. Facilities which are not considered to be major, i.e., residential structures acquired through land acquisition, should be further identified with the street address.

and spaces. If the name exceeds 40 characters, it should be abbreviated
to reflect the name commonly used on campus.
Requests to name a facility after a person must be brought before the Board of Regents for discussion in closed session at least one month prior to requesting formal Regent action (Resolution 2112, 3/7/80).
Facility additions do not have to be identified as additions in the name. Any name may be assigned to facility additions. Non-building facility names should be descriptive of the object listed. When grouping non-building facilities, the number of facilities included should follow the name (e.g., campus signs (8); Stadium lighting (24); etc.
Facilities located outside of the campus city should include the city, county or state of location in the name.
