Waste Management
Most activities on campus generate waste. Solid waste is any garbage or refuse and other discarded material, including solid, liquid, semi-solid, or contained gaseous material resulting from grounds, facilities, research, studios, classrooms, laboratories and other campus facilities. Nearly everything we do leaves behind some kind of waste.
Proper waste management is the responsibility of each person on campus, staff, faculty or student. Proper waste management helps to insure the protection of human health, the environment and campus assets.
Many environmental programs involve waste directly or indirectly. In fact, managing campus waste streams will consume a good deal of the campus environmental manager’s time.
