A project begun in 1981 that fosters the application of new developments in technology to teaching and learning. What began with television and video has been expanded to computer software, CD-ROMS and use of networking and interactive technologies. Information about funding, their multimedia collection, educational strategies and technologies, plus discipline-specific examples (languages, psychology, math and science) are all available at this site.
The Biology Software Lab
The Biology Software Lab at the University of Oregon develops educational software tools for Macintosh computers that encourage deep concept construction and open-ended scientific inquiry. The focus on investigation of student-generated questions based on scientific and social issues, allows students of diverse abilities to work independently or in groups, exploring all levels of concepts, investigative methods, and critical thinking skills.
A wide range of free curriculum materials including images, sounds, text, and video to be used for nonprofit educational purposes.
Distance Education Clearinghouse, University of Wisconsin-Extension
The Distance Education Clearinghouse is a major source of information and resources related to all aspects of distance education. Here you will find a listing of courses offered in the University of Wisconsin System via distance education technologies, information on certificate programs, and meeting and conferencing resources available through UW Extension.
The New School's Distance Instruction for Adult Learning (DIAL)
DIAL is a web site designed to provide comprehensive services for distance education, from course instruction and student advising to a showcase of the campus art gallery. It is an excellent example of the possibilities for distance education on the net.
Multimedia Educational Resource for Learning and Online Teaching (MERLOT)
An online community that links to electronic learning materials, reviews, and assignments. MERLOT is a free and open resource designed primarily for faculty and students in higher education.
Teaching with Technology Today
A web-based resource of UW-System practitioners who use learning technologies in their instruction and that highlights their uses of and perspectives about learning technologies. In addition, an electronic newsletter is sent each week to a related listserv WISLRNTEC, a system-wide list focusing on pedagogy and how the use of technology enhances student learning, to update readers about new sites added to the webpage.
