Televised Lectures
in Physics for Poets
Professor Bernice Durand
Department of Physics, UW-Madison
Professor Durand started a system of teaching Physics 107 with televised lectures. Since this project was begun, many revisions had to be made based on the changing needs of teaching format as well as in consideration of the student audience. Durand has reached the best solution with both televised lectures and a website.
Strength of Materials
Professor Robert Foley
Department of Physics, UW-Stout
ABSTRACT (no feature article available)
Professor Foley has been teaching Strength of Materials for nearly twenty years and has developed extensive lecture notes, sample problems, assignment and testing materials. With the assistance of a UW-Stout Nakatani Center for Learning Technologies Grant, these materials have been converted to HTML format and developed into a WWW Strength of Materials course at http://physics.uwstout.edu/strength/ Currently this material is being used with an on-campus classroom-based course, but it is also listed on the Internet at the University of Texas World Lecture Hall at http://www.utexas.edu/world/lecture under the Mechanical Engineering Section, and could be used by off-campus students with some modification, if needed. You can reach Professor Foley at foleyr@uwstout.edu
