LTDC Executive Committee Meeting Minutes from November 6, 2000

Present: Margy Ingram, Pat Fellows, Glenda Morgan, Kayt Sunwood, Kathy Christoph, AnnMarie Johnson, Hal Schlais, Lisa Kornetsky, Bob Jokisch
Submitted by AnnMarie Johnson, Secretary

  1. LTDC Curricular Redesign Grants
    1. Approvals
    2. Discussion of submitted grants. Approvals and denials determined. (I assume Glenda will be submitting an official document on these at a later time.)

    3. RFP

Concern about some of the details of the grant was discussed. Some indicated confusion over the process and about some of the supported areas (such as training workshops). We decided that the RFP needs to be looked at again. This will be done before the winter meeting, primarily through email.

  2. Other Items
    1. Macromedia training/ training fund
    2. In addition to the recent Macromedia training offer, Hal gets many other training ideas across his desk. While many of our faculty and us could benefit from advanced technology training, we don't all have the same needs. It is also time consuming to determine whether to support a specific training seminar on an LTDC-wide basis. Usually, we don't all need the exact same seminars either. But our campus don't always have the funds for $1000+ seminars. So we decided to have an LTDC fund for technology training. There would likely be $1000 per year available per campus for use by anyone to get technology training. Requests or nominations would have to come through the LTDC campus rep. Hal will write up a draft of the details.

    3. Online courses (Bill Winfield)

There is still interest in the online courses about online learning. There is some confusion as to whether a section just for LTDC can be offered. General consensus is that we do desire our own section. Also confused as to whether the courses are appropriate for us. Will ask Winfield for a Placeware demo of the class. It will be scheduled for executive committee, but open to all LTDC. This will give us a better sense of whether it is what we are seeking for professional development.
