Unclassified Faculty, Academic Staff and Limited Appointees

Unclassified vacation policies are located in University Personnel Guideline #9 and UPG #9 Attachment 1.  Vacation policies were created by Board of Regent Resolution 6698 (06/19/1994); amended by Resolution 7802 (11/06/1998); amended by Resolution 8745 (10/10/2003) and authorized by Board of Regents Policies 20-10 and 20-13.

Classified Employees (except Craftsworkers)

Classified vacation polices are authorized by Wis. Stat. § 230.35 and Wis. Admin. Code § ER 18.  The administration of classified vacation policies is provided for in Chapters 704 and 716 of the Wisconsin Human Resources Handbook and Section K of the 2013-15 Compensation Plan.

Classified Craftsworkers

Vacation policies for craftsworkers are the same as other classified employees except for the provisions contained in Section 3.02 of Section K of the 2013-15 Compensation Plan.

Classified personal and legal holiday polices are authorized by Wis. Stat. § 230.35 and Wis. Admin. Code § ER 18.  The administration of classified vacation policies is provided for in Chapter 716 of the Wisconsin Human Resources Handbook and Section K of the 2013-15 Compensation Plan.

Classified Craftsworkers

Legal holiday policies for craftsworkers are the same as for other classified employees.  Vacation policies for craftsworkers are the same as other classified employees except for the provision contained in Section 3.02 of Section K of the 2013-15 Compensation Plan.

Unclassified sick leave policies are located in University Personnel Guideline #10 and UPG #10 Attachments 1 and 2.  Sick leave policies were created by Board of Regent Resolution 506 (06/08/1973); amended by Resolution 1092 (10/24/75) and authorized in Wis. Stat. § 36.30Wis. Admin. Code § UWS 19, and Board of Regents Policy 20-1.

Classified Employees

Classified sick leave policies are authorized by Wis. Stat. § 230.35 and Wis. Admin. Code § ER 18.03

Summer Prepay Deductions and Summer Session Benefits Eligibility Policy

Summer Prepay Deductions maintain employee benefit coverage over the summer months if the employee is:
  • Is a faculty, academic staff, limited appointees, student assistants and employees-in training; and
  • Is on an academic year contract or on an annual contract that does not include work during one or more summer months; and
  • Who is expected to return to employment on or before the start of the fall semester.
The Summer Prepay Deductions and Summer Session Benefits Eligibility Policy provides guidance on summer prepay deductions, benefit eligibility for employees whose first appointment is a summer service or summer session appointment and administration of benefit changes that occur during a short work break.
