Mandatory Reporting Requirement (Exec. Order 54)
The Governor’s Executive Order #54 requires all University of Wisconsin System (UWS) professors, administrators, coaches, and other UWS employees to report incidents of child abuse and neglect observed or learned of in the course of employment.
The Office of General Counsel provides guidance in complying with the executive order and provides resources including online training, a list of FAQs, and UW System Administration contacts for consulting services. These resources serve to assist each UW institution in meeting its responsibilities under Executive Order #54.
Because children come into contact with UW System through various programs and events, the UW System policy requires all employees to report child abuse and neglect if, in the course of employment, an employee observes or learns of such an incident. The policy also extends to volunteers and contractors performing services for UW System.
