Careers at UW

Welcome to the University of Wisconsin Careers home page. Thank you for your interest in a career with the University of Wisconsin System.

The University of Wisconsin System (UW System) is a premier system of public universities and colleges—one of the largest in the country—educating students of all ages and backgrounds. With campuses around the state, it is an academic, cultural, and economic resource with an annual economic impact of more than $10 billion.

The UW System is home to the “Wisconsin Idea”—education for people wherever they live and work, and works in partnership with state government and private business to produce and attract college graduates, create the jobs to employ those graduates, and strengthen the local communities that support and sustain both.

The UW System consists of 13 four-year universities, 13 freshman-sophomore colleges, and 72 UW-Extension programs. Enrolling more than 180,000 students, the university also serves more than one million Wisconsin residents annually through statewide outreach programs. More than 33,400 professionals earn a UW degree each year, thanks to the dedication of more than 40,000 faculty, academic and university staff, and graduate assistants.
