Miscellaneous Benefits

Parking & Commuter Benefits

Parking

If you pay for your parking or vanpool through the University by payroll deduction, you will receive this benefit on a tax-free basis. Contact your institution’s benefit office for more information regarding parking at your institution.

Commuter Benefits

All employees, except those listed below, are eligible for this program:

  • Classified Limited Term employees (LTE’s)
  • Student Assistant with one of the following titles: fellows, scholars, trainees
  • Employee-in-Training with one of the following titles: grad intern/trainee, post-doc fellow/trainee

Any employee who regularly pays for mass transit, vanpool or parking may take advantage of this program and have these costs deducted on a pre-tax basis from their paycheck.

Federal law limits the amount of gross wages you may spend each month on tax-free transit or parking. Effective January 1, 2014, the limits are $130/month for transit and/or vanpool and $250/month for parking.

NOTE: If you already have your parking or vanpool expenses deducted pre-tax from your paycheck, you do not need to sign up for this benefit. You are already enjoying a tax-free benefit.
