Applying Advanced Distributed Learning to Pre-Calculus Mathematics

Follow-up Activities

There are a several followup activities resulting from the POC project.

The BCMP Project: The UW System, through its curricular Redesign Fund, is currently supporting 10 UWS faculty from Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics to extend the concepts and experiences gained from the POC. Faculty from the UW Colleges (an institution consisting of 13 two-year campuses) are working in collaboration with faculty from UW-La Crosse (a MS granting comprehensive institution) in a project that is being facilitated by the Office of Learning and Technology at UWS. In this project, the faculty are using the lessons-learned and materials developed in the POC during the summer of 2004 to understand and refine the development process and to create content for use in the fall semester. Our goal is to include physics and other science related disciplines in the spring of 2005. The BCMP project website contains a number of resources including a tutorial on content development and the use of Dreamweaver® libraries and templates for content creation.

A followup NSF CCLI Proposal: This proposal extends the concepts from the POC with the additional focus of addressing issues of scaling the sharing, recreation and reuse of TCP structured content.

A Local Federated Repository: As part of the infrastructure defined necessary to support the concepts outlined in the above proposal, the UWS is supporting the piloting of a concept we are calling a Local Federated Repository. Local support for faculty for content development repository server administration and library functions at several UW institutions is " federated" with the Scout Portal Toolkit -- software provided by the Scout Project Log on to the Wisconsin Federated Repository (WFR) when you get a chance and follow our development!
