UW-River Falls chancellor finalists named

MADISON, Wis. – University of Wisconsin System President Kevin P. Reilly today announced five finalists who are being considered for the position of chancellor at UW-River Falls.

A 19-member search and screen committee, chaired by UW-River Falls Professor James Madsen, recommended the finalists to Reilly and a special committee of the UW System Board of Regents chaired by Regent Brent Smith.

The five candidates will participate in a variety of public forums from November 19 through December 6, where they will interact with faculty, academic staff, classified staff, students and community members.  The community forums, open to the general public, are listed below.  For details on campus forums, go to www.uwrf.edu/chancellorsearch/. Reilly and the Regent committee will then interview the finalists in Madison on December 17.  The final appointment of a new chancellor must be confirmed by the full Board of Regents.

The person chosen will become UW-River Falls’ 17th chancellor, succeeding Chancellor Don Betz.

UW-River Falls, ranked by U.S. News and World Report as one of America’s Best Colleges of 2008 (Midwestern University-Master’s), has an enrollment of more than 6,000 undergraduate students and nearly 500 graduate students.  The university employs about 800 people.  UW-River Falls, the western-most institution in the 26-campus University of Wisconsin System, has an operating budget of $95 million.
