KnowHow2GOWisconsin to offer free test preparation
MADISON— Fall is the time of year when many college-bound teens get very anxious about taking the oft-dreaded SAT and ACT exams. To combat those fears, KnowHow2GOWisconsin now offers free online test preparation materials to Wisconsin students.
The newly added Test Prep feature on the www.KnowHow2GOWisconsin.org website includes easy-to-use tutorials and interactive practice sessions designed to equip students with the knowledge and confidence needed to succeed on the SAT, ACT, and GRE. The program includes a vocabulary builder that contains over 2,000 words and adapts to each student’s ability level.
The addition of Test Prep to KnowHow2GOWisconsin is made possible through a College Access Challenge Grant from the U.S. Department of Education. The grant aims to help students learn about and prepare for a college education. Great Lakes Higher Education Guaranty Corp. is providing matching funds for grant-funded projects in Wisconsin, including KnowHow2GOWisconsin.
KnowHow2GO Wisconsin and EdVest recently announced a video contest for Wisconsin students in grades 7-10, inviting them to create a short video focused on one of KnowHow2GO’s “Four Steps” to college:
- Be a pain – Tell everyone you know that you’re going to college and need their help.
- Push yourself – Study hard and get good grades.
- Find the right fit – Find out what kind of school is the best match for you and your career goals.
- Put your hands on some cash – If you think you can’t afford college, think again. There’s lots of aid out there.
Video contest winners, to be announced in January, will receive EdVest scholarships of up to $1,000 and winning videos will be posted on the EdVest, KnowHow2GOWisconsin and Higher Education Day websites. Contest rules and entry form are available at KnowHow2GOWisconsin.org
Launched in November 2007, KnowHow2GOWisconsin aims to turn students’ college dreams into action by providing the resources they require to succeed in their path to postsecondary education.KnowHow2GOWisconsin is a partnership between the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, the University of Wisconsin System, the Wisconsin Technical College System, and the Wisconsin Association of Independent Colleges and Universities.
