Biography of Regent Emeritus Milton McPike

Milt McPike, 1939-2008

Milton McPike served as principal of Madison East High School from 1979 to 2002, during which time Madison East was noted as a National High School of Excellence. He was named State Principal of the Year in 1997 by the Association of Wisconsin School Administrators, and has also received the Madison Magazine Man of the Year Award and the NAACP's Unsung Hero Award. McPike earned his bachelor's in education and master's in physical education from Northeast Missouri (now Truman State University).

McPike was a Univesrity of Wisconsin System Regent for nearly four years before resigning because of ill health. At the March 6 board meeting, the Regents honored McPike as a champion for Wisconsin students.
