Statement on Dismissal of UW Faculty member

"Today, the Board of Regents of the University of Wisconsin System voted unanimously to dismiss Professor Roberto Coronado from his tenured faculty position in the UW-Madison Department of Physiology effective immediately.
"The Board takes very seriously its responsibility to its students, staff and the state's citizens and will continue to address such matters in an expeditious but fair manner. Professor Coronado's egregious conduct and its effect upon the university and the community require that this action be taken.
"In accordance with due process rights, academic freedom, and shared governance, my fellow Regents and I are taking steps to establish a new, expedited process for the disposition of disciplinary matters involving serious misconduct, and the citizens of Wisconsin can depend on us to remain vigilant."
