Committee appointed for UW-Whitewater chancellor search

MADISON― University of Wisconsin System President Kevin P. Reilly has appointed a 17-member search-and-screen committee to identify a successor to UW-Whitewater Chancellor Jack Miller.

The committee will be chaired by Jimmy Peltier, the Arno Kleimenhagen Professor of Marketing at UW-Whitewater. He will be joined by eight other faculty members, two academic staff members, two students, two university administrators, and two community members.

"Students, faculty, and staff from all backgrounds are fortunate to live, learn, and work in a positive and supportive environment at UW-Whitewater," Reilly said.  "UW-Whitewater's strengths in business, community outreach, and economic development are evident in every corner of the region, and this search is intended to strengthen UW-Whitewater's capacity to make a real difference in the lives of the region's residents. I am confident the committee will identify the best possible leadership."

The committee will begin its work this spring and continue through the academic year. It will recommend at least five candidates who could replace Miller, who has accepted the presidency of Central Connecticut State University.

"UW-Whitewater prides itself on being a major contributor to the economic health and quality of life in Wisconsin, through a wide range of academic programs that produce top-caliber graduates," Peltier said. "The university also has a strong commitment to diversity, applied research, community service and programs that directly promote business growth.

"We will seek a new chancellor who will continue to help us advance these core values and set high standards for all aspects of the university," Peltier added. "The ideal chancellor will also be a strong leader for both the campus community and external constituents, including alumni, community leaders, parents and employers."

The UW System President and a special committee of the UW System Board of Regents will conduct final interviews and make a recommendation to the full board.
