Statement on the Resignation of WTCS President Richard Carpenter

Katharine C. Lyall

President, University of Wisconsin System

“On behalf of the entire University of Wisconsin System, I want to express our warm regard, and best wishes, to Dr. Richard Carpenter, president of the Wisconsin Technical College System as he prepares to take on a new leadership challenge. Richard has been an active partner in fostering strong, positive collaborations between our two systems of higher education. These beneficial partnerships, including the PK-16 Council and the recently-appointed Joint UWS-WTCS Committee on Expanding Baccalaureate Degree holders, are helping our students, citizens, and the state’s economy.

“Dr. Carpenter can look back with pride upon the substantial development and growth the Wisconsin Technical College System has enjoyed during his tenure. We will always be grateful to him for the collegiality between our two systems and the collective progress we have generated.

“Not only has Richard been a popular and energetic leader, but as important, he is a warm and supportive colleague and friend. We wish Dr. Carpenter and his family all the best as he leaves for new opportunities in Nevada. ”
