UW System ready to host Wisconsin Economic Summit IV
MADISON—Wisconsin Economic Summit IV, hosted by the University of Wisconsin System, will take place today and Tuesday (Oct. 27-28) at the Midwest Airlines Center in Milwaukee.
Participants in this year’s summit will focus on creating a set of realistic goals for Wisconsin’s long-term economic success and vitality. Wisconsin Economic Summit IV will bring together business and labor leaders, elected officials, university experts and community partners to develop and advance statewide economic development strategies.
“This fourth economic summit is a wonderful opportunity for education and government leaders to connect with business and labor leaders in the private sector,” said UW System President Katharine C. Lyall, co-chair of Wisconsin Economic Summit IV. “The ideas from presenters and attendees at Wisconsin Economic Summit IV will help the state establish effective strategies to carry its economic recovery well into the future.”
Presenters will showcase specific economic development advances during workshops throughout the day on Monday. Attendees will gain insight on the health-care cost crisis, regional economic development initiatives, the state’s economic clusters and Wisconsin’s business climate during sessions on Tuesday.
Highlights include keynote addresses from John Morgridge, chairman of the board of Cisco Systems, and Gov. Jim Doyle, who will speak about Wisconsin’s economic challenges and present the Baird Excellence in Teaching Economics and Financial Literacy Awards.
Major sponsors are Robert W. Baird & Co., Journal Communications, Inc., and The Bradley Foundation. Additional support is provided by We Energies, Alliant Energy, Madison Gas & Electric, Wisconsin Public Service Corporation, American Transmission Company, Xcel Energy, Kikkoman Foods, Inc., SBC Paging, The Widget Source and Sonic Foundry.
