GREBE RE-ELECTED PRESIDENT OF BOARD OF REGENTS; LUBAR RE-ELECTED VICE PRESIDENT

MILWAUKEE -- Michael W. Grebe of Milwaukee was elected today to his third term as president of the University of Wisconsin System Board of Regents.Regent Sheldon B. Lubar of Milwaukee was re-elected to his third term as vice president of the board.

Grebe and Lubar were first elected to their positions in June 1994.

Grebe succeeded Regent George K. Steil, Jr. of Janesville. Lubar succeeded Grebe.

Grebe is an attorney and partner in the Milwaukee office of the law firm of Foley & Lardner. He was appointed to the Board of Regents by Gov. Tommy Thompson in June 1991, and elected the board's vice president in 1993. He served as vice chair of the 1992 Governor's Commission on University of Wisconsin System Compensation, and chaired the just-completed Study of the UW System in the 21st Century. As president, Grebe is chair of the Board of Regents Executive Committee.

Lubar is chairman and chief executive officer of the Christiana Companies, Inc., and is chairman of Lubar and Company, Inc., an investment and banking venture capital company in Milwaukee. He was appointed to the Board of Regents by Gov. Thompson in April 1991, and currently serves as vice chair of the Executive Committee and as a member of the Council of Trustees, UW Hospital and Clinics.
