Multicultural / Disadvantaged Coordinators

Multicultural/Disadvantaged Coordinators (MDCs) in the University of Wisconsin System are charged with coordinating a variety of precollege and postsecondary recruitment and retention initiatives in order to assist in the production of greater numbers of college graduates from underrepresented multicultural (URM) and economically disadvantaged backgrounds in the state of Wisconsin.  MDCs have historically networked at the UW System level around three primary issues: training on legislative responsibilities regarding implementation of state statutes; awareness and implementation of sound or “best” practices relative to recruitment, retention, and graduation; advocacy about the role of the MDC in UW System initiatives.  (White Paper, 2013)
