Institute on Race and Ethnicity

The UW System Institute on Race and Ethnicity (IRE) served as a UW System-wide catalyst for scholarly research and curricular innovation in racial and ethnic studies. Its primary purpose was supporting faculty, staff, and students through a variety of grant programs, conferences and events, publications, and other related scholarly activities designed to enhance inquiry into the phenomena of race and ethnicity.

The Institute (IRE) has been absorbed into the the Office of Inclusivity, Diversity, Equity and Student Success (IDEASS) as of 2011. IDEASS will continue to address the issues that formed the mission of IRE. Grant requests in the nature of which IRE previously handled may be administered by IDEASS.
