Inclusivity, Diversity, Equity, and Student Success

Inclusive Excellence plays a key role in advancing the Growth Agenda goals to develop the state’s human potential for Wisconsin to create new Wisconsin jobs, and help strengthen local communities, particularly in response to the state’s changing demographics.
The Office of Inclusivity, Diversity, Equity and Student Success provides guidance to the Senior Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs, the President of the UW System, the Board of Regents, and UW System universities and colleges in the development of policies and practices that:
- Maximize the educational benefits of diversity,
- Maintain inclusive, equitable, and safe institutional environments,
- Engage institutional Student Affairs units as vital resources in fostering student success.
To achieve these objectives, IDEASS is charged with assisting the President in monitoring and coordinating the implementation of the UW System Inclusive Excellence strategic plan.
IDEASS supports institutional and system-wide efforts in both the Student Affairs and Equity & Diversity functional areas.
The Office of IDEASS most recently operated under the name of the Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI.)
