Understanding How Current Market Conditions Impact Your WRS Account and Future Retirement Benefits
The following four documents are for employees covered under the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS) who would like to learn about how the WRS investment gains and losses over the past several years and current market conditions may affect future WRS benefits. Please review the information that pertains to your current status under the WRS. All documents were revised on December 11, 2012, with the most up-to-date WRS information available.

Impact of 2011 WRS Investment Returns
The Effective Interest Rate is the interest rate credited to the retirement accounts of employed Wisconsin Retirement System participants and eligible inactive WRS participants.
2011 Core Fund Effective Interest Rate: 1.5%
2011 Variable Fund Effective Interest Rate: -3%
The Annuity Adjustment Rate is the annual adjustment that a WRS annuitant will receive on his/her monthly pension check*:
2011 Core Fund Annuity Adjustment: -7%
2011 Variable Fund Annuity Adjustment: -7%
*Not all retirees will see a reduction in their annuity - see pages 1 and 2 of the ETF press release for details.
