Wisconsin Deferred Compensation
The Wisconsin Deferred Compensation Program (WDC) is a supplemental retirement savings program, regulated by Section 457 of the Internal Revenue Code (IRC). It is available to all State and University of Wisconsin employees as well as employees of local governments and school districts in Wisconsin that have elected to offer the WDC.
WDC accepts both Roth after-tax contributions and traditional before-tax contributions. See the brochure "The WDC Roth - Is It Right For You?" for more information about the difference between after-tax and before-tax WDC contributions. Section 457 of the IRC sets forth certain limitations and restrictions that must be followed including the amount of compensation that can be deferred, as well as when and how account balances can be distributed.
The WDC program is administered by the Wisconsin Department of Employee Trust Funds (ETF) through a third-party administrator, Great West Retirement Services.
