Employee Benefits

Unemployment Insurance

If your position ends, or if you are involuntarily terminated, you may be eligible for unemployment insurance (UI). UI pays you a weekly benefit for a limited number of weeks while you look for new work.

Calculation of your benefit is based on earned wages from your present and/or past employers dating back as far as 18 months from the date of your termination.

UI is authorized by Chapter 108 of the Wisconsin Statutes and administered by the Department of Workforce Development.

For a brief explanation of the filing process, see Filing For Unemployment Insurance Benefits.

For a complete discussion of the application process and eligibility factors, see the Handbook for Claimants.
